#CWPLeader November
The Teacher Consultants we celebrate in November are CCSS or NGSS leaders or coaches for their Writing Project, school, or district. When they applied for their Writing Project’s Invitational Leadership Institute in the Teaching of Writing, most of them never anticipated such leadership responsibilities. They just wanted to be the best teachers of writers and writing that they could be.
Now as Teacher Consultants, they are organizing and leading professional learning programs that link the resources of their local Writing Project to the strengths and needs of their district, school, or educator colleagues. Some are district or school coordinators of professional learning, and others are administrators overseeing CCSS and NGSS implementation plans. Some teach half the day and coach or mentor the rest of the day. Others lead workshops, professional book studies, learning from student work groups, or collaborative explorations into using digital texts and tools across disciplines. Collectively, they support the building of teacher knowledge for CCSS- and NGSS-informed classroom instruction and assessment.
Congratulations and thank you for all you do for students, your colleagues, and your Writing Project.
